Hymenoplasty

What are the potential risks and complications of hymenoplasty surgery?
Hymenoplasty is a fairly low-risk procedure with very few side effects, although, complications may arise in rare cases. These can include the risk of prolonged bleeding and infections. It is also common after the anaesthetic has worn off for patients to feel slight pain and/or itchiness around the surgical wound for the first few days post-procedure.
How long does it take to get back to normal activities?
Most women find that they are able to return to work 2-3 days after the surgery, however it is important to take it easy and not return to any strenuous activities for at least 6 weeks. Patients are also advised to take extra care with running, swimming, soaking in a bathtub and heavy lifting in the weeks following surgery. It is recommended that patients wait 8-12 weeks to engage in sexual intercourse post-surgery.
Will there be any visible scarring?
Hymenoplasty surgery does not leave any visible scarring, with stitches fading on their own after a couple of weeks.
