About a third of patients who underwent such procedures did so for health reasons, a third did so for purely aesthetic purposes, and the other third had procedures for simultaneous cosmetic and practical reasons. There are three main types of genital operations available to women – labiaplasty and vaginal tightening, which can be done independently or together, and hymen repair, also known as hymenoplasty. Each is a different procedure that achieves different results.
What is Labiaplasty?
The labia refers to the layers of skin that surround the vulva and gives the vagina its overall appearance. There’s an enormous amount of natural variation in its characteristics, and every woman’s is different. These natural characteristics, combined with the rigours of childbirth, aging or injury, mean that the labia tends to change a lot over time. Vaginal Tightening
Vaginal tightening is an extraordinarily beneficial procedure that alleviates a wide range of symptoms and fixes a lot of issues. The exact methods vary, but it’s all focused on strengthening the pelvic muscles and experiencing the amazing advantages of doing so. Natural aging can cause these muscle structures to deteriorate quickly, particularly when they aren’t regularly exercised. Pregnancy in particular, however, is the main cause of loose vaginal muscles and can cause a range of particularly unpleasant symptoms.
On the other end of the spectrum, a lot of women encounter issues with overly-tight vaginal muscles. These can also cause a lot of discomfort and health issues. Too-Loose Muscles:
The following conditions are caused by excessively loose vaginal muscles, and can be fixed with tightening procedures.
- Incontinence or uncontrollable flatulence: If it feels like you no longer have the control or muscle intensity to ‘hold it in’, then that’s probably exactly what’s happened. This is a fairly common side effect of pregnancy or aging that will strike a lot of women at some point. Excessive ongoing tension such as that which occurs during childbirth can permanently sap muscle elasticity and cause ongoing incontinence. Most patients agree that vaginal tightening is a much better solution than adult diapers.
- Organ prolapse: This is an unsightly and unhealthy condition in which normally invisible internal tissues get ‘pulled out’ and become clearly visible, potentially causing pain, discomfort, sexual dysfunction and intense self-consciousness. Generally this will not happen unless your pelvic muscles have lost strength. If it does, surgery can put everything back to normal, fixing both the symptoms and the cause.
- Overactive bladder: Thought to affect almost half of all women at some point in their life, overactive bladder syndrome simply causes the frequent feeling of needing to pee. It’s accompanied by incontinence in about 40% of cases. If you need to urinate a number of times throughout the day, or several times each night, then you probably have an overactive bladder caused by excessively loose pelvic muscles. One of the biggest problems with this condition is that many people assume it’s just one of those things that comes with pregnancy or aging, that it’s normal and that there’s no cure. This is wrong on all counts. It affects a lot of people, but is far from normal. It can be caused by pregnancy or aging effects, but also has other roots. Most of all however, there is a cure, and it’s very simple and straightforward. Vaginal tightening cures the root of the problem, so if you think you might have an overactive bladder, there’s no need to keep suffering through it.
Too-Tight Muscles
A lot of conditions can come about as a result of overly taut vaginal muscles. These can also be fixed by adjusting muscular tension.
- Urination issues including pain, incomplete emptying of the bladder, inconsistent stopping and starting of the stream or muscle spasms. This likely means your perineum is too tight and needs to be relaxed.
- Ongoing constipation, pain and straining during bowel movements. Uncomfortable, unpleasant and a serious health issue, this should be fixed as soon as possible.
- Lasting and unexplained pain anywhere the lower back, hip, pelvic or genital region. In the absence of another distinct cause for pain in these areas, the reason is almost certainly over-tight vaginal muscles.
- Pain during or after sexual activity, particularly where there are also penetrative issues or sharp bursts of pain during climax. This is not normal, and easily cured.
- Vaginismus or muscle spasms. Any sudden and spasmodic motions of the vaginal muscles or involuntary contractions can probably be prevented. These must be identified during the surgical consultation session to determine whether or not they can be resolved.
What is Hymenoplasty?
The hymen is an internal vaginal membrane. It often remains intact and unbroken until a woman becomes sexually active, but can also be ruptured by rigorous physical activity, sports, injury or numerous other causes. Hymen reconstructive surgery, also known as hymenoplasty or hymenorrhaphy, encompasses all techniques in which a doctor surgically restores or repairs the organ.
