Thigh Lift

Thigh lift surgery is a procedure that reshapes the thighs by reducing excess skin, and in some cases fat, resulting in smoother skin and better.

Thigh Lift

Purpose of a thigh lift is to firm up and smooth out the upper legs by removing excess skin and fat. The result is thinner, flatter and better toned thighs. Broadly speaking, the purpose of a thigh lift is to firm up and smooth out the upper legs by removing excess skin and fat. The result is thinner, flatter and better toned thighs, with most of the benefits occurring on the inside area of the legs. Whether you’re looking to get rid of excess skin or subdermal fat, or want to achieve a generally tighter and more youthful look, a thigh lift can make a particularly huge difference.

Thigh Lift Factors

+
  • Thighs are one of the human body’s favourite fat storage locations. This means they’re often the first places to show signs of weight gain, and one of the last to lose volume during weight loss. Sometimes the only way to successfully trim thighs is through surgery.
  • The position of thighs near the centre of mass means it’s impossible not to notice when they’re disproportionately large, and it tends to skew perception of one’s entire body. This is compounded by the fact that there are almost no types of clothing able to effectively conceal the issue. The upside of this is that slimmer thighs can make an enormous difference to your appearance as a whole, and create an overall tightening effect that extends far beyond the legs.
  • Bulging thighs and excess skin can lead to uncomfortable and potentially unhealthy chafing and rubbing between the legs. If this persists for an extended period, it can cause ongoing skin damage and a number of other conditions. While large thighs are not unhealthy in and of themselves, they can lead to things that are.
  • Disproportionately large thighs can limit clothing options. If you’ve experienced difficulty finding pants that fit well and aren’t too tight in some places, too loose in others and generally too long for you, a thigh lift can probably help.

As is often the case, almost all thigh lift patients fall into one or more of three groups. The first is people who simply have unusually wide and hefty thighs. It’s possible that your body has decided, against all wishes, to keep piling up the fatty tissue in your upper legs. In these situations, there’s no simple and permanent solution, but a thigh lift can offer many years of complete relief and satisfaction.

The second group is people who are experiencing flaccid skin as a consequence of aging. Older skin naturally loses elasticity and is prone to building up in places like the abdomen and thighs. A thigh lift can remove the excess as well as underlying fat, bringing significantly smoother and tighter legs.

The third group is people who have lost a lot of weight, but now have too much loose skin. Because thighs are so heavily involved in fat storage and weight management, they’re one of the body parts most likely to suffer from extensive loose skin following weight loss.

The Thigh lift Process

+

The first step is an obligation-free initial consultation session with an expert. You’ll tell them what you’d like to accomplish, and they’ll tell you what can be accomplished. By combining both of these perspectives, you’ll be able to discover exactly what a thigh lift can do before committing to the procedure.

The operation itself takes two to three hours, depending on the extent of the work needed, and is conducted under general anaesthetic. The exact type of incisions needed vary on a case to case basis, but usually follow the pelvic crease around to the junction of the inner thigh and perineum, and extend to the buttock crease at the back. These lines will always remain at least slightly visible in the months following surgery, but are hidden by the body’s natural contouring and will eventually fade away until they’re practically invisible to anyone who’s not looking for it.

These incisions are the points at which excess skin will be removed and unwanted thigh fat is liposuctioned away. Because thigh lifts use dissolving subdermal stitches, no sutures will need to be removed following surgery.

FAQ

Do I need a thigh lift or thigh liposuction?

+

Could be one, could be the other, could be both! If you have loose, excess skin and uneven texture in some areas, and stubborn deposits of unwanted fat that won’t go away even with changes to diet and exercise, then chances are a combination of both will help get the result you want. If you have more areas of wanted fat on your thighs and you want to refine it to help create a curvier, hourglass shape, then leg and thigh liposuction may help you with that. If you are only concerned with loose skin, it could be that a thigh lift alone is all that you need to get the look you want.

I’ve got sagging skin around my knees. Could a thigh lift help?

+

Thigh lift is best at addressing loose skin in the upper thigh area, most often in the inner thigh area. Because of the distance from the upper thigh to the knee, the benefits to sagging skin around the knee are more minimal. That’s not to say that the knee area will not benefit at all; in some cases, skin laxity in that area can also be improved, but it’s not the primary area of refinement. If sagging skin around your knees is a concern, our doctors will talk to you about the options that are available to you to address that as well.
