Your First Consultation
Your first consultation is an opportunity for you to meet Dr Kohout, discuss your concerns, and explore potential treatment options.
Before Your Consultation
To schedule your consultation, simply ring our friendly reception staff on 1300 55 11 51. They’ll be happy to find a time that suits your schedule.
What to bring to your first consultation:
- Your GP referral (see below)
- Any relevant medical records or test results
- A list of current medications
- Photos of your area of concern (if applicable)
- A list of questions you’d like to ask Dr Kohout
It’s natural to feel a mix of excitement and nervousness before your consultation. Remember, this is your opportunity to learn and make informed decisions. There’s no obligation to proceed with any treatment, so feel free to relax and be open about your thoughts and concerns.
New Regulatory Requirements
Recent changes in Australian healthcare regulations, as mandated by AHPRA, have introduced new requirements for cosmetic surgery consultations and procedures. To ensure patient safety and informed decision-making, you’ll need to provide a medical referral from your GP or another qualified medical practitioner before your initial cosmetic consultation with Dr Kohout.
In line with these regulations, you’ll have two consultations with Dr Kohout before any surgical procedure can be scheduled. This two-step process allows for thorough discussion, consideration, and planning.
After your second consultation, there’s a mandatory 7-day cooling-off period. This time allows you to carefully reflect on the information provided and your decision. Only after this period can you sign the consent form and pay any deposits towards your surgery.
We understand these steps may seem extensive, but they’re designed with your best interests in mind, ensuring you have ample time to make a well-informed decision about your procedure.
Arriving at the Clinic for Your Consultation
Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by our receptionist who will ask you to complete some paperwork if you haven’t done so already. You’ll then be shown to our comfortable waiting area.
Our clinic is designed to provide a welcoming, professional atmosphere. You’ll find a calm, clean environment with modern amenities to ensure your comfort throughout your visit.
During Your Consultation
- Dr Kohout will review your medical history to ensure any proposed treatments are safe and appropriate for you.
- He will conduct a thorough examination of the areas you’re concerned about. Rest assured, your privacy and comfort are our top priorities throughout this process.
- You’ll have the opportunity to discuss what you hope to achieve through plastic surgery. Dr Kohout will listen carefully to understand your desired outcomes.
- Based on your goals and physical examination, Dr Kohout will explain the available treatment options. He’ll provide his professional recommendations, explaining the potential benefits and risks of each approach.
We encourage you to ask any questions you may have. No question is too small or trivial – this is your time to gain clarity and feel confident about your choices.
After the Consultation - What happens next
If you decide to proceed with a treatment, our staff will provide you with detailed information about the next steps, including scheduling, pre-operative instructions, and any necessary preparatory appointments.
